Why I Want to Tutor and Teaching/Tutoring Experience
I want to be a tutor because as a future STEM educator, I feel I have what it takes to sit down with a student and help them get to where they want to be (in an academic sense). I have been a peer tutor ever since I was in middle school and was even recently hired by Benedictine University as a physics tutor as well. Apart from this, I am also a Learning Assistant for the PHYS 1113/1118 classes at BenU.
Some of my most recent exposure to teaching physics has been in my Pre Clinical assignment at Hinsdale Central High School this past semester. Based on the feedback I have received from those I have tutored, I have an effective approach to breaking down difficult topics and concepts. Not only this, but I am passionate about physics, math, and sharing my knowledge. I have experience answering all the different kinds of questions that students have when learning physics.
I have also been a volunteer tutor for students grades K-5 for the Glen Ellyn Children's Resource Center.
